xgsjx Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Sorry, you're right. Well Sharkey, shame on you for trying to steal someone else's limelight. You 80s throwback!!! Quote
TimR Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 It won't happen. It will result in lots of calls to the Environmental Health about noise levels and there'll be another proposal. I think it's the expense and the complexity of the licensing that's the problem, not the actual licensing. Although the current system was supposed to make it less complex. Quote
icastle Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Got to say that, around here, either the majority of the local pubs have managed to succesfully navigate the inevitable 80 page document detailing everything from venue size to sock colour... or they've just ignored the rules. Quote
Bilbo Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Never seen what the purpose of the legislation was. Let's be honest, the factors that determine where live music is played will be the size of the room the size of the potential audience and the cost of the band. Most of the venues I play coudln't take more than a 4 piece without there being no room for an audience. Quote

JTUK Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I think there is a case for regulation and for it to be simplified....we hardly need a free-for-all though. And I agree, it is unlikely, IMO, ...you only have to see what hoops you have to dance through for outdoor licenses.. due to H&S etc...so unless they bin that, I can't see them deregulating to any degree. xgsjx Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I've a cheek to talk about audience sizes, last gig I did in Perth we had an audience of 1 for the first 5 or so songs! Never went back to that venue & never even took payment from the bar (I felt bad as I think they was relying on us bringing an audience, which we don't have in Perth yet). Quote

Blademan_98 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 They shut one of our local pubs because they put bands on without a licence A good venue to play as it had a proper stage. Re-opened with new management and no music Quote
