I think it's the expense and the complexity of the licensing that's the problem, not the actual licensing. Although the current system was supposed to make it less complex. Let's be honest, the factors that determine where live music is played will be the size of the room the size of the potential audience and the cost of the band. And I agree, it is unlikely, IMO, ...you only have to see what hoops you have to dance through for outdoor licenses.. due to H&S etc...so unless they bin that, I can't see them deregulating to any degree. Never went back to that venue & never even took payment from the bar (I felt bad as I think they was relying on us bringing an audience, which we don't have in Perth yet).
