Vibrating G String Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Looks like you got it cheap Quote
fender73 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No idea value wise. but that's a cracking bass, congrats. Quote
Bernmeister Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Wow!!! That looks superb, 6 strings is a bit of a handful for me. But having tried Ken Smith basses in the past i'm sure it'll feel & sound fantastic Quote
voxpop Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 This is such a good find..... If I had seen it I would of bought it. £1500 is a bargain. Enjoy. Quote
Chris2112 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Not a bad price, it should be a very good bass if it's as good as the Smiths I have played! The BT is my favourite Smith shape too. Quote
yybass Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Well done you got an absolute bargain, these are sought after in the US and will sell for $3500 (£2200). These 'Bass/Treble' are superb, they have a nice rich tone. Quote
RhysP Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 That's lovely! Fantastic price too - serious bargain. Quote
squire5 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I just had a minor ,tho' pleasurable mishap in my underpants, looking at that! Quote

Schnozzalee Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I'm jealous BUT I reckon its probably going to weigh a tonne so time to invest in a nice wide strap! Quote

And I definitely recommend going down that route, it's worth it just to be compensated for loss or damage. Quote

lee650 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Absolute steal , you did really well there, a beautiful smith, they are the best!!!! i sold my bolt on Smith for £1600 and that was a decent price, you got a BARGAIN!!!! Edited September 10, 2011 by lee650 Quote
freelancesam Posted September 11, 2011 Author Posted September 11, 2011 Thanks for the feedback guys. I gave the seller the £40 and he drove (devon to birmingham) and met me at a services where we did the deal, lovely chap. Got the bass yesterday evening, had this morning to get my head around the extra string and gigged it tonight through a TC RH450 + RS212, the tone/sustain is phenomenal! It is quite heavy and my left shoulder is feeling the strain but its sooo worth it! Can anybody guess what instrument this guy plays in the band? Quote
Doctor J Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Looks great, well done. What is the string spacing? Quote
RhysP Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 First dibs if you decide to sell it for the same price as you paid for it. Quote

griffonite Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I love the "was I ripped off" comment of the O.P Are you being coy or do you really not realise what a bargain you have there. This bass was advertised in Bassist mag' for ages at £1600 obviously no one bought it which I find very strange, times really must be hard! What sort of price would Basschatters consider this bass would be worth? I would say at least another grand on top of what the O.P paid> Quote
