I've had a 4 and 5 string KSD but I've just took the plunge and bought myself this absolute babe of a bass!

Anybody owned an old BT 6 before? have any tips? Did I get ripped off?

Well done you got an absolute bargain, these are sought after in the US and will sell for $3500 (£2200).
These 'Bass/Treble' are superb, they have a nice rich tone.

If you paid the £40 p&p cost you were ripped off. It only costs a tenner to send a Bass. In saying that the Bass looks great.

I agree that it only costs about a tenner to ship a bass, but if you want to have it shipped properly insured for £1500, you're looking at around £45. And I definitely recommend going down that route, it's worth it just to be compensated for loss or damage.

If I'd been fortunate enough to get my hands on that bass for £1500 I wouldn't give a f*** if it had cost me £100 to send it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I gave the seller the £40 and he drove (devon to birmingham) and met me at a services where we did the deal, lovely chap. Got the bass yesterday evening, had this morning to get my head around the extra string and gigged it tonight through a TC RH450 + RS212, the tone/sustain is phenomenal! It is quite heavy and my left shoulder is feeling the strain but its sooo worth it!

Can anybody guess what instrument this guy plays in the band?

I'm not sure on the actual string spacing but the neck is about as wide as my face so the strings arn't too close... a bit closer than your average 5 string.

I love the "was I ripped off" comment of the O.P Are you being coy or do you really not realise what a bargain you have there. This bass was advertised in Bassist mag' for ages at £1600 obviously no one bought it which I find very strange, times really must be hard! What sort of price would Basschatters consider this bass would be worth? I would say at least another grand on top of what the O.P paid>
