pantherairsoft Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Right, New thread to start collating interest for a Nottingham Bash this year. Try not to post anymore in the thread for 2010 to avoid confusion. If your happy with the Five Ways as a venue again tick yes, If not, tick no and reply to say why. I think the venue works as its quite accessible and has plenty or parking, and it's cheap. Tick every date you think you can make so we can start to head towards setting on a date. Cheers Shep Quote
tauzero Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I've not been to the Five Ways (car problems when the last one was on) so I've voted "yes" but it's an uninformed "yes". What time are you expecting to finish? Quote
Len_derby Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I've never been to a bash before, so it's about time I started. I'm not sure what the format of the day is, so if anyone can enlighten me I'll be very grateful. It's probably best to assume I know nothing! Quote
pantherairsoft Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 As for times etc... No idea yet. As I recall it kicked off around 1pm and wrapped up about 6 last time. There is no format as such. We hire a room at a venue that has a bar. Everyone brings basses and hopefully a few will bring amps/cabs/combo's etc. Everyone gets to meet other basschatters and try out everyone's gear, socialise, talk bass and generally have a good time. Last time there must of been 20 of us at the busyest time (some folks just pop in for an hour) and at least 40 basses! Cost depends on how many turn up. If the room costs £75 for example and 10 folks commit, it'll be £7.50 each, if 100 decide to come it'll be 75p (and we'll need a bigger venue). Quote

Is it worth closing the 2010 thread, perhaps first editing the title to reference this one? Quote

Oakbear Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'll make it if i can. I might even check the intonation before coming this time! Quote

budget bassist Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 wish i could come, but once again, i'm in sunny wales! Quote
mcgraham Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Only date I know I can't do is the last Saturday in October. Other than that, I'm up for it! Quote
nottswarwick Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Are we going to have a Jam Room like it seems was at the Surrey one? Quote
retroman Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I'm interested. Free on any of the above dates at the moment Quote
mcgraham Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 We could try and set one up. Though I think if we're going to do a jam room then we might want to push it back til sometime in the New Year and make it into a slightly better publicised event and get in people's diaries. Quote
pantherairsoft Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Agreed. At the moment, there is hardly enough interest/responses to make it worth booking. Maybe planning something bigger for next Feb or something is a better idea - hat would also give us time to find a suitable venue with multiple rooms far enough away from each other that sound doesn't travel - The school idea may work like it did in Surrey. TRBboy Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Hi guys, don't know whether you've seen but a few of us have been discussing a West Midlands Bass Bash. As Birmingham and Nottingham aren't all that far away, what about linking up for one big Midlands Bass Bash? It would be good to get as many people together as possible IMHO. What do you think? Quote
bigjohn Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I'll come along. I'm free on all the dates I think. Quote

Maybe we could start checking out possibilitied in our own areas and then compare? I'm in south Birmingham BTW. Quote
yorick Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hi, just a quickie. The West Mids Bass Bash has been confirmed for 27th November. Hopefully won't clash!!! Anyone interested from over there is welcome. Cheers, Nige Quote
pantherairsoft Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 Will see what I can do about coming to the West Mids one. The response to the Nottingham one has been a tad slow. 16 votes is a tad low to make the event worth doing. Thinking that trying to plan something bigger for earlier next year is a better idea. Roland Rock Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Did I miss the Nottingham bash? If not, any plans? Quote
Dread Bass Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 We havnt done one in ages. possibly time to get the discussion going again. Quote
