lemmywinks
Hey all I've just joined a new band after a nice rest from gigging and it's the first time i've needed to practice properly since my daughter was born. At the moment i'm using a cheapo Zoom multiFX but i need some way of mixing my mp3 player so i can learn songs quickly without waking the little lady up and getting a bollocking from the missus. Basically something simple which lets me mix an instrument and a line-in that i can use with headphones. Would need to be smallish and relatively cheap - i'd like a Bass Buddy but can't justify the cost as i already have a small practice rig. Cheers! mart
Wouldn't a Hartke A70 do all that?

lemmywinks
Wouldn't a Hartke A70 do all that?
I sold the Hartke a bit ago, it was pretty good for hooking an mp3 player up to but as i recall (may be wrong) it wasn't able to do silent practice. It's also a bit bulky to keep just for the line-in capability as i already have a mini-rig for amplified practice. I was looking at getting an Art Pre a while ago as i'd like a nice valve pre, so something like that with an mp3 in and headphone out would be ideal as it would kill two birds with one stone. lemmywinks
Would this do? http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?ty...at=13&id=71 Or is that totally unsuitable? I'm a bit thick when it comes to stuff like this!
ahpook
you can have my old phonic MU502 for the price of postage if you fancy channel 2-3 is a little hissy, but apart from that it'll do exactly what you want and i never use it... PM me if you're interested. Edited September 9, 2011 by ahpook
OldG
A cheap mixer would do the job fine - maybe something like this?. Could also come in handy for band use and/or recording... I sometimes use mine for amplified jams in the lounge, plugged into the stereo. then again, we don't have to be too quiet these days as my youngest is 20 now - and plays music much louder than we do! edit: ahpook has the perfect solution there.... What a grand offer! - I use a Phonic myself and well pleased with it. Edited September 9, 2011 by OldG

geoffbyrne
This is what I use (I've 2 of them) but you need the correct AC/AC power supply & this guy isn't including it. Mcgiver69
What about this bad boy? i have the old version and works like a Swiss Clock. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Korg-Pandora-Mini-Black~ID~14913.asp and can even be used for recording purposes too. lemmywinks
Looks pretty cool as do most of the suggestions (wish i had more money!) but Ahpook has very kindly sent me the mini mixer for free and asked to have the postage cost donated to BC, which was absolutely brilliant of him. The Phonic mixer works a treat and is a really handy practice tool, i've learnt a full set since i got it and it's a perfect solution. I'd definitely recommend them or something similar, i've been using it with an Aphex Xciter but even on it's own it sounds great. It also matches my netbook and my USB interface which is a bonus, tart that i am!
