epoxyjazzbass
Hi, I would like to buy my first double bass Perhaps a christopher with solid woods, so the 400 series I' ve seen there is different shape : french named 403 and italian named 404 "busetto" Wich one do you prefer and why ? I think I will play almost jazz stuff; walking bass and pizzicato
Bilbo
I nearly went for the Busetto before settling on a Gedo Musik 5 string. |I just liked to shape. Can't comment past that, other than to say the brand appears to have a good rep amongst its players (most of whom are first timers like yourself). aonindy
Hi, I finally settled on a Christopher Prominence DB401 (Gamba flatback) model. http://www.christopher-bass.de/dbass_e.html I had first got a Shen 80 Laminate, and while it got me going, I wasn't satisfied at all really. I went back to the shop (Tom Barrett, Galway Ireland) and eventually settled on the Christopher and I am extremly glad I did. Every time I pass it I have to stop and have a quick noodle. Its solid all the way through and was superbly setup by Tom. My teacher was extremly pleased with the purchase and loved the sound/quality/setup/value combination! Hope this helps a wee bit in your quest. Allen.
