Anyone compared a Barefaced Compact to a Genz Uber 15?

So my Berg 412 is up for sale soon and I am going back to 2 15" loaded cabs as I am looking for something more modular and I like 15s. I have narrowed it down to the above two cabs.

Have tried the Genz 15 and liked it very much but have not seen or tried a Compact.

The Compacts are half the weight, a fair bit cheaper and as Alex seems to know his onions and specialises in bass enclosures should be engineered and perform extremely well.

The Ubers have tweeters (not that I have ever used one or felt I needed one, but you can always turn them off/down) which is an extra feature and Genz seem to make some very well respected bass products.

How a cab looks does not really bother me, I have normally got my back to them :) but I know some on here have commented that the Compacts have an almost unfinished look.

So any info would be very helpful.

Ta :)

HI, well i run my shuttlemax 9.2 thur a fearul 15/6/1, i would say its similar to the compact overall and if you like clarity with endless bottom, then look no further job done.

Does the 6" speaker make much difference?

I have a compact and am very happy with, I used a Markbass 121p plus 121ny cab before and wanted a one cab solution. I would say a couple of things about the compact - firstly it is very very light which was one of my main needs but what I did find was because the driver is low to the graound compared to my previous rig I found it difficult to hear myself especially as I'm nearly always stood pretty much inches from it (small pubs - gotta love em eh). I have however just had a revelation - I did a wedding gig last night and tried raising the cab by putting it on it's side on a keyboard x frame stand - job done! I can hear myself, the drummer could hear me and was very pleased and the clarity of the sound out front was improved also. this is of course just my experience but as your current rig is quite tall you might have a similar experience with any single 15" cab.

cheers

Martin

I also found this with my Compact, coming from the 410 & 210, or 412 rigs I had previously. My solution - buy a Barefaced Midget to go with the Compact. Yes, a fairly expensive set-up, but I can carry both cabs at once - and I`ve a bad back - I have no trouble hearing myself, and it sounds awesome.

Here's what they look like now:

The cabs that went out 'on tour' and attracted a few pejorative 'homemade' comments were the very early ones - that was quite a few years ago - the fundamentals haven't changed but everything else has, resulting in a product with cosmetics to match performance.

The fEarfuls are much more like the Big Series cabs - different design for a different purpose!

As I've always said though, get a cab that gets the sound you want and the loudness you need whilst fulfilling your practical requirements. It doesn't matter whether that comes from 15"s, 12"s, 10"s or a crate filled with mice waving those oriental fans at appropriate frequencies!

Good point, i have played thru one of your big ones and if i had bot allready built my cab, i think i might have cut his hands off for it, i have not tried a compact but i doubt i would be disapointed.
