Noisyjon Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Hello, This bas sis now withdrawn from sale on BC. The bass was completed in March 2010 and the spec's are: Body: 55 P bass shape with body & forearm contours, Swamp ash, Nitro butterscotch finish, Badass 3 bridge (string through) Chrome, Chrome string ferules, Single ply black pickguard, Seymour Duncan Custom Shop custom ordered 'Hot Stack for '51 P bass', CTS premium vol & tone controls, Sprague orange drop cap, Chrome control plate, Chrome control knobs, Electro socket side mount jack socket Chrome Schaller straplocks. Neck: 34" scale, 20 frets, Reverse tele headstock (lefty) Flame maple neck & board, Nitro vintage tint, Black side and face dots (usual position), Vintage style truss rod, Carbon fibre reinforcement, Hipshot HB3 Clover tuners, 1.75" (44.5mm) nut width, Round string tree, jumbo fretwire, Bone nut, 'Fender Precision Bass' period correct decal. Don't know what the fingerboard radius is I'm afraid but guess it's a vintage style 7.5 inches. It weighs 4.3Kilos/9.48 Pounds The bass has had moderate use and there's some buckle rash on the back but it has not gone through to the wood. Please see the pictures of it below. When it was about 7 months old there was a truss rod fault which meant it had to go back to the manufacturer to have a new one fitted, but it's all OK now and I want to be completely honest about it's history. As a note - The re-assembly and setup of the instrument after the repairs was done by Martin @The Gallery so it truly plays like a Custom Shop bass now. I have the receipt for this work. Comes in a Hiscox Liteflite hard case which has a broken/come away fabric tag on the internal compartment. This does not affect the case at all. Edited April 28, 2012 by jonthebass
Clarky Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I've seen and played this bass and its a cracker (now that Jon has sorted the truss rod issue). I would like this but have just bought 'Rick's Fine 52''s relic'd '53 P bass so am out of funds and have my '50s Fender fetish sated! This is one lovely bass, especially the flame maple neck. Someone buy it. Its lovely

I wouldn't be seen in public with it of course but that's just me Good luck with selling it Jon, be patient, her new mother will find her eventually.
EssentialTension Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Very nice and I like the reversed headstock. Shame I've got no money or space.
Noisyjon Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the kind words Chaps. Edited September 28, 2011 by jonthebass
TimmyC Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Great looking bass, bet it sounds sweet too. Shame I'm not in the market for a 50's P.
Noisyjon Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Hi TimmyC, It sounds MASSIVE! Thanks for the kind words and let's give it a BUMP
CBbass Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Considering the spec this is a very good price, nice alternative to the overpriced sub par Fender quality we see nowadays. Don't suppose you can tell me where you got the decal from? I'll need one soon. Cheers.
Kelso Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 What a beautiful looking bass! And a good price for a custom job. Why hasn't someone bought this yet? If I hadn't just bought a 75' P-bass I'd have had this . . .
