Rh450 + F1 = Staccato 51

I all have recently got hold of a staccato 51 and really like.

After a couple of years of trying/ owning prob a dozen amps ( basschats fault) I have found " the one".
For me the 51 is all the great features and sound control of the Rh450 with a bit of the smooth and punch i have missed a little from my good old f1 head.

Many people say that there is little difference between the rh and the staccato but to my ears there is whole load more punch going on, i love punch!

Sounds interesting. Looking at the EQ section specs it seems like that extended the top end compared to the RH450 (the only thing about my 450 I dont like is the rolled off top end which cant be dialed back in).

The Staccato isn't constrained at the top end as I believe the RH450 is and has a fuller bass tone, with strong lows and low mids. I A/B'ed it with the F1 on several gigs, by using the F1 in the first set and the Staccato in the second set, and the band chose the Staccato every time. Good choice.

It's a fantastic amp that works very well with both my 10's and 12's.

For what it's worth, when I owned an RH450, the overwhelming feeling was that I should have gotten the Stacc'. I still have an F1 that I use as a backup these days but I never pursued the Stacc' when I got hold of my current rig.

Congrats on new amp day!

I do recall getting your advice on this very subject, from what you have said mate i think you would like the
staccato a lot. ( gently placing a GAS seed in Dood's head)........................ :)[/quote]

Awww you little monkey you! I managed to divert my GAS elsewhere whilst I was talking to Molan about the Staccato! - I'm sure it'll just get worse if they bring out a Staccato 750!!

I believe I have just been trumped! - It's a shame that 'smith is in such an unnecessary huge case.. it's not like it needs the room like an SVT 2/Mesa 400. I'd like to see 1000W in a 1u size, if it's a rackable head. Funnily, i'd been in touch with a couple of manufacturers some 5 years ago about such a design, but it seems my ideas were missed!
