tonybassplayer Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 My partner is just getting in to playing drums and we have started to play a few songs together that are relatively easy for her on drums and sound semi decent without guitar etc. Typical example would be Billie Jean and Black Velvet etc Any more ideas of what we could try ?? Bob Marley and the Wailers tunes? That was a beautiful rhythm section and the bass lines are a joy to play. Quote

bartelby Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Find some OM. May not be quite what you're after but it's just bass, drums and vocals. I'm in work, so can't post youtube links... Quote
lemmywinks Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Express Yourself - James Brown Low Rider - War Don't Look Any Further - Dennis Edwards Keep Forgetting - Michael McDonald (or just do Regulate!) Aint No Stopping Us Now - McFadden & Whitehead Groove Is In The Heart - Deeelite Anything where the bass is the melody should work. Quote

L_Bass_Dog85 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Clutter. Great band. + 1 on Bob Marley and the Wailers! Edit: Rush - A Passage to Bangkok. Good, simple drum beat with the occasional fills! Edited September 13, 2011 by L_Bass_Dog85 Quote
Hobbayne Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 The Beatles - Come Together The Jam - Down In The Tube Station At Midnight Two entirely different basslines that work well with the drums. Quote

And don't forget the gloriously noisy Big Business, who were a bass/drums two-piece for their first album: Quote

The beauty of it too is that Reggae is pretty much all about just keeping a nice groove, pretty much ideal for a beginner (in my opinion). Quote
Nyl Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 could throw in Primus, god only knows what Ler is playing on guitar most the time. Fistycuffs or Southboand Pachyderm (but maybe not if she is just starting out) oo yeah Monkey Man Parallel Universe by the Chili Peppers Quote
