risingson
I thought we could have a post that everyone unanimously agrees on. Thoughts/opinions welcome, as long as they don't conflict with my own.
nottswarwick
Actually, I like the bas guitar, but I don't like music as much as I did - since my daughter came along 5 yrs ago there is no time for music for leisure, and it is my job to teach and play, so in fact it's a bit of a busman's holiday,,,
risingson
Yeh, but think of what you could be doing instead of playing, that's what I always think. For your passion to be your job is an incredible thing, don't you think?
nottswarwick
I am sounding ungrateful there but I'm not, I'm very lucky indeed. Just never just sit and listen but I am not moaning far from it
silentbob
I totally agree with the op, i too love both the bass guitar and music, and on the odd, rare occasion, i sometimes even manage to combine the two.
ZMech
I hate both, I'm just a masochist with a strange sense of humour.
Bankai
I don't like bass guitar. I only play it fulfill my masochistic desires with the abuse I get from guitarists, drummers, singers, keyboard players, backing vocalists, saxophonists and triangle players. Doctor J
I, too, like bass guitar and music... just not at the same time.
chrismuzz
I hate playing bass. That's why I have a 6 string
paul h
I like the bass guitar and music. I concur with the OP completely.
xgsjx
Hmm, tricky one. I like bass (& bass guitar, but that's in a different topic), but I'm not too sure about this music malarky. I like making noises & deep rumbles though! Does that count as music?

Dave Vader
What's wrong with you people? Bass guitar, so outdated, nobody I know under 40 likes bass guitar, it's had no substantial lasting legacy, and neither has music, kids today don't like music, just have a listen to what's out there, you old people just don't get us kids I think you'll find that post-womble-deathcore-hoedowns have little to do with music, and are where it's at. (apologies to dc, and no offence intended)

fender73
I think i prefer the Bass guitar than i do music. I also like chocolate. Edited September 14, 2011 by fender73
Bilbo
Prefer music to the bass guitar by a long chalk. If I was young enough to start again, I can see why other instruments may be preferable but, at that time, the bass was the only one I could make sense of sufficently to be able to invest in it emotionally and financially. I am a musician first and bass player second.

Low End Bee
As long as it's played through an Ampeg SVT toob head and two 8x10s. Otherwise it's worthless and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

By the way, this isn't a thread discussing which is more important to you, either 'bass' or 'music', it really is much simpler than that! It doesn't matter which one you like more. If we were going to discuss which one was more important then that would be contentious. And there's nothing contentious about this thread, that is the beauty of it... janmaat
I love music - who wouldn't. Not so sure about the bass - it's a tool, but I don't manage to play the music my heart desires, so it keeps frustrating me. If I wouldn't love music so much, I'd throw it away! Sometimes this makes me want to hate music. My brother says music is for people to disagree upon. Indeed, easier to agree on the bass being a nice instrument then to agree on the music it plays. So maybe I should love bass and hate music. Confused
