Christ, there's a blue one on ebay for £700.
Hmmm........ I don't think there's anything wrong with this one, but it's been re-listed again and again for the last few months. I think it belongs (or belonged) to a store in Bristol which has closed down but is still trading online.

Provided there's nothing wrong with that Gumtree one, it really is a stonking buy for someone, even worth taking a punt on if you're not 100% sure, you'd easily get your money back! It looked really nice in the pic the guy text to me. Seriously, what else could you buy for £400 that would come close?!

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!! SOMEONE BUY IT!!!! WE CAN BE SANDBERG TWINS!!!!!

I think I'm losing the plot.................

Good value again for a quality handmade bass, not my cup of tea though. Be sure to let me know if you spot any nice Basics or Ken Taylors going cheap though!

"the finish is designed to become worn" - I'm sure the paint isn't designed to chip off!

Loving this thread and all the sandberg love going around. To praise them again, i sold my Ray5 for mine and it's the best move I made. I want another PM4 or whatever they are called now, but in Matt White with black plate! Mmmmm

Mmmmmm that would he sweeeeet! You'd have like yin and Yang basses!

It is good that there's so much Sandberg love going around, but I just wish there was a bit more appreciation for the Basics!

They aren't very pretty IMO, and you know what people are like on here, if it doesn't look like a Fender or a Ricky, they don't know what to make of it.

Anyway, I have decided to go back to Warwick. Hearing 51m0n's mixes of the new Kit Richardson EP this week, I have fallen in love with my own bass tones :) I need a Warwick again!

I hear what you're saying brother!

Glad you've figured out what makes you happy anyway (until the next GAS attack!).

I'll be taking my Sanbberg JM4 to tomorrows bass day if anyone wants to try it out you would be more than welcome to put your grubby mitts on it, very heavy bugger with a trying neck, but no neck dive.

All the best

Ha ha! Love you GW! Wish I could just order a custom bass like that!

Well, another member of the congregation, maybe we need to do a Sandberg porn thread once you've got yours!

Steady on dude, :) I know I've recently lost my gf, but that doesn't mean I am going to bat for the opposite team now... I consider myself retired now. :)

Ha ha! Maybe I should've said "love your style"! I know you're not getting the other bus into town, and I'm happily married so it's all okay!

Seriously, should be a lovely instrument, although the waiting time seems to have gone up a bit! I think it was 10 - 12 weeks when I enquired a few months ago, although to be fair the aging probably adds a bit. Have you stuck with Delano pickups or gone for Haussel? Any other specs or are you not willing to divulge?

I look forward to seeing the pics and review!

No I have stucked with the Delano because I was impressed by them. There are no other specs except the fact I forgot to say is that the colour will be sunburst on maple, just what the doctor ordered.
I was thorn between Fiesta Red and Seafoam Green but then I thought... nothing better looks proper aged than sunburst.

TBH, Mark did a cracking job of changing my mind about them, they sound absolutely superb, have 24 frets which I really do use, and I want one in shell pink :)
See, I'm tempted by one of those Mayones as well. Not sure which colour I'd go for.
Well, in that case, I think you would also have to come up with a suitable name for said bass, maybe along the lines of 'Thousand Island' or maybe 'Marie Rose'? :)

Good luck in your search, mate

Been playing over 40 years and I have two Sandbergs........they are both brilliant. Having owned a variety Fenders and a vintage Ricky, Sandbergs are a secret treasure and are one of the best guitars around, imho. Buy one now while they are still not too popular and they are a bargain second hand.

My JM4 is about 15 years old and I also have a Custom which is only 3 years old. Both beautifully built and with active circuits that give any tone you need. I think most Sandbergs seem to have a similar profile neck, about 39mm at the nut and a very slim D profile....we're talking Ricky slim here. I think they feel great and my custom is the easiest bass to play, ever!

You also get great service from the company. I wanted a new scratch plate for my JM4, just coz I fancied a change of colour. As it was quite old the factory wanted to make sure they got a good match so they custom copied my old scratch plate and sent me a new one in two weeks for £32, incl postage from Germany ...I think that is service beyond expectations.

Do you get the feeling that I like them?!?!?!?!

BREAKING NEWS!

I woke up on the sensible side of my bed and decided to cancel my order for the Sandberg 5 strings "aged" I simply don't need it. Besides I have another project in the "air" with Mr. Sheldon Dingwall, so... wait and see. Watch this space.

p.s.: this is the first time I ever cancel an order, I am embarassed to admit, I've never backed out on a decision before but what's in the pipeline will be more interesting.

Ah, sometimes these things are not meant to be. I dont think it will hold against the Dingwall's anyway!

Looking forward to seeing what Dingwall is coming!

Ah man,

I want details, huge Dingwall fan! I hope this is the TB coming to life at last :)

Although there's a couple of other basses that would look great by them IMHO (Dingwall Jaguar anyone?)
