discreet Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011
I'm fairly sure that's not Olympic White.
It's Olympic White. 70s Fenders age to a creamy yellow over time. It's the degradation of the poly coating that does it. The finish beneath will still be the original colour. This is a 76P I had for 35 years: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/116578-precisions/page__view__findpost__p__1226142 You can see the original colour where the poly coating is worn away.
gareth Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011
I really didn`t expect to see you`d still have this one Gareth, it`s a beaut. For anyone looking at this, I bought it`s rosewood necked sister, and can state Gareth sells some darn fine basses!
thanks lozz
She`s not going anywhere soon The current one up for sale has got that aged yellowness that white Fenders get. I think it gives them bags of character. Luckily for all of the rest of you I have no money at present, or I`d be all over this one too.
deepbass5 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The current one is very nice but the rosewood board on yours was to die for.
That's very interesting. I stand corrected. It's a great looking bass right now - whatever it looked like in the past. I did think it was Vintage White - as that's what mine is. Here's a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91866150@N00/6601562947/ Virtually identical to that, except with Rosewood. I prefer the look of the maple mind.

I've just bought a 70s P, otherwise I would have been very tempted at this price!
