I use velcro to tie up my cables. Get a metre of velcro from your local fabric shop, chop it up and use it to tie up your cables - lasts for ever.
Or the velcro cable tags from Ikea or the neat coloured "stay on the cable" ones from Sellotape

There was a discussion of this including the plastic cable tidies and the correct way to wind a cable (with video) on another thread.

They won't totally tame the pesky things. Even with restraints they seem to get up to all sorts of naughtiness in the cable box ...

I bought one of these a couple of years back for telescope stuff (equatorial head, counterweights - all in about 70lbs), and it's rock solid. I even stand on it when the 'scope is close to vertical and I'm 17st. It's a tough little bggr, and the wheels and retractable handle mean it's a hoot to move around.

I think I may have seen these in my local B&Q in Ireland , I'll have a butchers for you over the w/e and let you know, you seem pretty hell bent on getting this one. It should be a quest for us all for you to be happy ... ^_^
