Basschat forums - are there too many ?

OK I love this site BUT the thing that I find frustrating is that there are sooo many forums. Is there any scope for some rationalisation ? for example collectively the review forums get a handful of posts a week so wouldnt it better to just have one review forum ?. Even on the Gear discussion side, I'm not sure theres enough traffic to merit seperate forums. I probably miss alot of interesting posts purely because I dont have the time or inclination to open the dozen relevent forums every time I log on.

What do people think ?

I've just had to wait a couple of minutes for it to open at all from the home page into any forum. Whether that's because there's almost 500 people looking right now, or whether it's too many forums I dunno.

If you think there's too many forums (fora? ) take a look at Talkbass.....

And currently, there's a big wait for anything.

FWIW, the way I use BC means the number of sub-forums is irrelevant to me.

The only time I look for a specific forum is when I'm perusing the for sale areas. Other than that, it's 'view new posts' or the search function.

Yep, same for me. Plus, I don't read every 'new topic' anyway - the topic title tells me if I'm likely to be interested or be able to contribute if it's a specific question.

It's now called "View New Content" and there's a whole new host of options to filter it.

Usually just look at latest posts, unless im after something specific, or bored and looking for a topic to waffle on. So about right i'd say.

Wow. I had no idea that so many people just look at new posts. eg I have no interest in DB or EUB so I wouldn't venture into that forum. I go to whatever forum I am interested in going to
