Emerald green.

Hmmmm .... hadn't considered a 'non-brown' stain. Emerald green sounds tasty

Finished at last. Not perfect but loads better than when I received it. Plays like a dream. I absolutely love it

The Ray sounded sublime through my live rig. It was the first bass (including my SR5) that has prompted a 'that sounds nice' response from another band member and the only bass (again including my SR5) that our vocalist, who is also a bassist, has asked 'to have a go on'

The things people do to perfectly good instruments...

What colour did you choose in the end. Any pics?

Bought this bass from fellow Basschatter Chris (Me An My Bass).

He had been led to believe by a previous owner that this orange peel satin black finish was the remnents of the original factory finish. To his credit, when Chris was informed that the bass originally left the factory in a beautiful trans blue burst finish, he couldn't be more apologetic. A deal was struck and now the work of refinishing the bass begins.

No sign of any of the original finish exists in the cavities. I'm hoping that, being that this was a trans finish bass, a nicely grained piece of wood lies beneath that awful paint job. If so, I may go for a natural finish....if not, who knows how it'll look when it's finished
