Marvin Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I'm doomed then. I look a complete fool in a hat. Quote
rOB Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Ah but finding the right hat is the tricky bit. Quote

Doctor J Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I just mash my fabulous hair into a hat shape, it's almost a good as a real hat. OK, 38% as good. OK, 14% as good. Quote

seashell Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Yes, and Les Claypool. And my bass teacher. I'm beginning to suspect he doesn't actually have any hair as I've never seen him without a hat on. Quote
Blademan_98 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011
Here's my attempt
You just need a beard now....... Quote
charic Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Me... a beard? Nooooooo..... Lazyness stubble yes, the mrs wont let me have a beard! Quote
gapiro Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 HAts are the mark of a bass player. I totally concur. Quote

chaypup Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I had a lovely hat as seen in my avatar - all lovely and shiny too. Sadly, our massively p*issed singer pinched and promptly lost it at a featival we played at the other week... How can I play now????? Quote
Dave Vader Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I have both hat and beard, however, I take the hat off to play, as it gets bloody hot in there. Quote
Happy Jack Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Bizarrely, my slide player always wears a hat because he gets so hot anyway, and needs the hat to keep the sweat out of his eyes. Getting back OT, bass players do NOT need to wear hats and hats are NOT the true mark of the bass player. The true mark of the bass player is a shiny, bald/shaven dome. You only need the hat for the load-out after the winter pub gig where the temperature is sub-zero and it's sleeting on you. Quote
BottomE Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I'd love to look cool with a hat. What hats are cool though? I look like a twat in a baseball cap as my face is quite long. Often have to wear a suit or shirt when gigging so something that would go with that. Quote

charic Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Now I'm confused, is the one I'm wearing a trilby or fedora (I hear theres a massive markup on fedoras and a huge waiting list too ) The mrs says I look a prat in it too Quote
