was jamming with a friend whose voice I really like, and was looking for ideas of simple bass n vocal duos to play around with. The first to spring to mind was Fever by Peggy Lee, then I found this great cover of summertime:

anyone know of any others?

There is a cd by Glen Moore (Oregon) and Nancy King called 'Impending Bloom' (see link)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Impending-Bloom-Nancy-King/dp/B000000NQ5/ref=sr_1_4?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1317310514&sr=1-4

A track on Claudia Acuna's cd Wind From The South called Alfonsia Y El Mar where she duets with Avishai Cohen. And there is a Kurt Elling video on Youtube where he duets with a bass (its absolutely stunning but I can't recall the title of the track or the player).

Carmel in the 80s was a three peice vox,D bass and drums does that nearly count?.....being a trio and all? worth a listen though ( sorry about that!)

I really like(d) Carmel although like allot of acts from back then, I'd imagine a fair portion of their music was played on a Fairlight :)

Didn't Elvis Costello do a couple of wonderful duets with db on Jools last year? Anybody remember that or is it my imagination?

Can't play it on Youtube cos it keeps telling me my country doesn't exist or something (how does it know? Must have been talking to the IMF).

Some great tracks up here. For a first outing on thursday my singer and I are gonna keep things classic, playing Cry Me a River, followed by Summertime. Since she's a nice blonde, I came up with the name for our duo of Beauty and the Bassist. Shall let you guys know how it goes.
