Bo0tsy
Hi there, Just wanted people's opinions on what is the best envelope filter for playing funk. I've got myself a Micro Q-Tron which is great for getting a bass to quack but I'm also after that squishy, squelchy low end funk sound. Any recommendations? Thanks for any replies. xgsjx
The Source Audio BEF (& BEF Pro) look like hot contenders for that. My fave filter is the Moog, but I'm not sure it's the best for what you want.
thisnameistaken
I think the Q-Tron filters are really good for that sort of thing, you would have to spend a lot more to get a more suitable filter. The Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk (and Octavius Squeezer by extension) are very wet-sounding filters too. You can also get big peaks and warbly sounds out of the Lovetone Meatball circuit, so that includes the Robot Factory Meatwad, Barge Concepts Grinder, and 3Leaf Audio Groove Regulator. I think specifically the envelope follower in the Meatball circuit is the best one I've ever used, and the Q-Tron is probably the second-best. The Source Audio BEF Pro does look interesting in terms of its feature set, but I haven't tried one personally.
