One for you Rutherford/Geddy fans!

I don't often see double-necks on Ebay, least of all new ones. The bass half looks like one of the recent Shine copies

I want that so badly! I have wanted a Rickenbacker 4080/12 for ages but I'm never going to be able to afford one so that looks like a more sensible option. Someone give me the money for it?

Doesn't look too bad, although the necks seem a little far apart. :)

I've got an old custom build and the reach to the bass is a good stretch.

Looks like they are now willing to copy just about anything!! :)

Cheers. :)

Woah FlatEric, that "tribute" bass is awesome! I wonder where you got the name Mr. Lee from :) I am so desperate for one of those but unfortunately i'll not be able to buy one for a very very long time.
I would think about buying that one that Johnston posted but the necks are the wrong way round. Has to be bass on top like the original 4080/12
Although, only thing I don't like about the 4080/12 is the fact the guitar is 12 string, i'd want to use it as a 6 string guitar, not 12.I suppose it wouldn't be a problem just stringing 6 strings on there but it would look silly with the 12 machine heads.
Expensive to re-string too :)

*edit* I'm a big bag of special. I didn't realise they did it as a 4 string bass with a 6 string guitar. It was just called the 4080. THAT'LL DO FOR ME!

That picture is of Geddy Lee's actual double neck :) That's a picture from his equipment list off that tour haha.

This is quite cool if you're a fender fan

I never understood why Rick always put the bass on top. Rutherford had his double-neck specially built for him with the 12 on top and that makes much more sense to me. If you strum or pick the guitar then your forearm is almost parallel with the strings, which is easier if the guitar is higher up. And if you play the bass fingerstyle then your arm is more perpendicular, so that works better with the bass lower down. So for that reason I'd never want a "standard" Rick 12/4 - their arrangement only makes sense if you pick the bass and pluck the guitar!

But that makes it even more baffling that these Chinese knock-offs are Rutherford style rather than Rick style. Or perhaps they've just thought about it logically and reached the same conclusion as me! :)

Now, please, someone remind me that at that price this guitar must be crap and, besides, I do not need a double-neck. I'm having the same palpitations as I had when, years ago, I saw an ad for a Rick 12/4 in the back of Guitarist. Actually, if memory serves me right, that was priced at £600 as well.

It certainly looks like an original, but Geddy has Badass bridges on his 4080's.

Why the Badass, mine really sings as standard and has a great deal more soul than a 4001.
