Benplaysbass
Following previous discussions on how heavy big combos are and carting them about, I decided that my Ashdown combo was too heavy for lugging to rehearsals and already having the extension cab I got thinking about a smaller amp to use with that. Would always use the combo and extension for gigs. But our new rehearsal space is a bit of a pain so got to thinking about down sizing. Had totally forgotten about my old 100 watt combo, unplugged the built in speaker and plugged in the mag 115 and it sounded lovely so took to my old amp with a saw. It looked like this for a start..................... It still needs finishing off but so far so good............................. And when I took the amp out of the combo the sticker on the outside stating 100 watt didn't match the markings on the circuit board on the inside which says 50 watt, but it sounds ok for practicing with. lemmywinks
Haha cool, have you managed to make another extension cab out of the remnants of the combo or is it destined for the skip? It's surprising how nice cheap combo heads sound when paired with a decent cab.
Benplaysbass
The rest of the combo is for the bin, when I cut the top bit off to make a nice box for the amp it meant taking the top off the cabinet, so it only has three sides now.
