lobematt
I've been planning a refin on one of my basses for probably far too long haha. It's red high gloss squire body, I want to finish it white (unless I strip it down and the wood is nice then I'll leave it natural but I haven't got my hopes up). If I do go white, I'd quite like it to wear down fast to give it a nice old battered look, I quite like the thin finishes I've seen on some SG's. I was just wondering how to go about this? I'm also thinking about leaving the red underneath and just taking the gloss off so that starts to show through the white. Has anybody done anything similar to this before? Delberthot
If you finish it in nitro then it will age relatively quickly, especially if you only give it a thin coat but you have to be careful when working with it
Jondeeman
A thin coat of white on top of red will give you pink... enjoy! A thick coat of white will give you white... but won't wear through anything like as easily. Where it wears, it will give you white through pink, to red. Nitro will degrade PDQ, especially if you give it some sun (it's the UV wot does it ) Probably another colour combination would be preferrable! I know it's not really an option... just saying. lobematt
I was worried about getting a pink bass... so strip right back to the wood and then white nitro? Has anyone got the link to that manchester based shop that sells bass spray cans? I seem to have misplaced the link...

Horizontalste
Northwest Guitars do Nitro on ebay. It's a little cheaper than Manchester Guitar Tech and Its good quality paint, I have just finished a Jazz in Daphne Blue.
