i think the tele bas is gorgeous. I've always loved the look of that and the '51 P, and it is also the only time i would ever buy a bass in sunburst haha. The maple neck just makes it even more tempting Not sure about the pups though, they don't seem to be spaced right for me.

I've never been a fan of jags though, and I don't think this new one will change that.

Like the Tele. Dunno if the big 'bucker is the right choice for the bridge, but I guess it lines up well against the EB3/EB0/Epiphones . Not sure what the Jag offers when compared to the er... Jag and the VMJag.

Why do Fender think that we all want a maple neck with black block inlays?

There are at least 5 models I can think of that feature it now... American Vintage '75 RI Jazz, Geddy Lee Sig, VM Squier Jazz, Fender 70s P Bass and now these!

Why don't they balance it out a bit and give us a mid-ground bass with a maple neck and WHITE binding/block inlays.

At the moment, it's just the Marcus Miller sig or the '77 Squier. Something in the same mould/price range as the '70s series Jazzes but with that option and I'd be buying one without a second thought!

can't there be a passive jag with tone/volume pots and pickup selecter switches? i badly want to like the jags but they're either over the top with a million controls or just bits nicked from existing models :/

i do like the maple neck and block inlays though (and the p/j setup)

The bridge PUP on the Tele might look odd, but at least Fender appear to have finally caught on to the idea - known to players of the beasts for almost 40 years - that it needs a second PUP!

Love the tele - went on TalkBass and someone has christened the other one as the Geddy Jag!

The Tele bass needs modded though: (TalkBass image!)

And the best question is...are Fender now making copies of Squiers?

Fender have released so many pickup and finish options this year. As much as it's great to see I can't help but feel like they're flooding the Market. Fender always made the standard in my eyes, everyone else made super fenders. I liked that fact.

Certainly looks that way to me - similar stuff going on with the 'Pawn Shop' guitars based on the Squier '51. Not too sure about these - the Tele looks like a '70s Jap copy with the big bridge pickup...

Personally the tele is one of the overdue basses.

Never going to be a big seller but for people like myself who have always preferred the shape of the single coil precisions and tele basses it'll be a winner.

Makes a change from the endless Jazzes and Precisions with very little difference between them

Currently showing as £400 from [url="http://www.coda-music.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=0&products_id=11040&oscsid=a162ea8ebe1592965a4d08d0cdf7fcdb"]Coda music[/url]. When Soundslive get a hold of them then they should come in less than that as they are usually one of the cheapest.

Any ideas where these will be made cos this is getting into top Squier money territory?
