Delberthot
Its been that long ago that I can't remember. I know that it never needs a sealant coat or anything but the pores in the wood look quite large in places. Should I fire some Warwick wax on them as I still have loads in the house? Darkstrike
You could, but there's no need. Wenge is like rosewood, all it needs is to be played!
BassBod
And watch out for splinters...ow!
Darkstrike
Never got one from mine, and I've had it years.
BassBod
I got one from the wenge front on my old Wal (where there was a worn dip in the face) and again when I did a Shuker build - every time I picked up a piece of the stuff. Its very long stiff grain works like a spear. But its fine as long as you don't get the rough end....
Lfalex v1.1
Never done anything to any of mine.Playing is enough. Both of them are 14 years old now, and are well and truly played-in. No danger of splinters, methinks!
warwickhunt
+1 to all of the above. No need to wax if it is played regular but a wipe with wax or lemon oil won't do any harm (be sure to buff the wax off properly or it can become sticky when you get it warm during playing). Splinters... owned dozens of Warwicks over the last 20+ years and have never had one splinter, ever!
Delberthot
cool. thanks for the confirmation. One thing I like about it is if the neck gets funky and slow, a quick pass with 000 grade steel wool has it lovely and slippery again
