Azrabella
Well I'm looking to stretch my fingers over a 6-string. I don't yet know if I'll cope but I saw a really cheap one on e-bay but I don't know about the maker - Stellah! Any of you guys know any more? I've certainly seen nothing remotely this cheap (about £185). Worth taking a chance ?
lemmywinks
Not familiar with Stellah but the Shine/Harley Benton ones are surprisingly good for the money and are about £90 when they come up for sale. Probably come from the same factory! The one i had was structurally faultless and was ripe for modding if you wanted to improve the electrics. This kind of thing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shine-Extreme-6-String-Bass-Black-/200657353629?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2eb81c3b9d I think the Ibanez and Yamaha 6ers are great starting points, i'd be keeping an eye on this one if i were you: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-SR886-6-string-bass-/220864622182?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item336c8eae66
tauzero
The Peavey Grind 6 is also well worth considering. You never know, I might even sell mine...
Mog
Those Stellahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! giutars aint great. Real budget stuff. I'd look at secondhand Ibby and Peavey tbh. I picked up a fretted version of this last year and it was great. Even better when I changed the preamp. These go seriously cheap sh. dougal
+1 for the Peavey Grind. I picked up a six on here for £200. Can't play the bloody thing. But still. I don't think I'll loose too much if I decide to move it on either.
Musky
Depends what you're after really as there's plenty of decent stuff out there for that kind of cash, especially second hand. A Danelectro would be my personal choice (if I didn't have one already) but it really depends what you're hoping to play on it. I tried a Vintage VR100 double cut which really impressed as well. There's also a similar Vintage styled after a LP Jnr Special. You might have guessed I tend to like very basic guitars...
Azrabella
Yeah, but I'm a southpaw and that markedly reduces the options - or I could consider a five string, I guess. Funny enuough ( don't spell it like that!) Stellah make one of these for £150 or so. But as it's entry level stuff I might have to wait for something better. I'd still like to get some feedback from anyone who has used/owned one though.
