squire5
I was looking for a joke I'd read earlier today in the 'Bad Jokes' thread.I searched for 'Bad Jokes' in 'Forums' and got 23 references..none of which was the 'Bad Jokes' thread. Help!
RichardH
On the subject of searching, if you are within a thread and want to search within that thread, then the results page it gives is just the single thread, and all you seem to be able to do is click on the thread and you're back into the start of the whole thread - no lsiting of the posts within the thread that matched your sarch terms. Hamster
Not sure about that one. Although a much better result is achieved by clicking on the little cog 'advanced search' to the right of the search box - that gives search results the way I would expect to see them. Kiwi
It might be that the search engine needs re-indexing. I'll see if there's something that can be done behind the scenes.
Kiwi
Ok I've checked the search engine settings. The search engine for Basschat is a 'daemon' called Sphinx which is a program which runs in the background. I'm guessing that this means the indexes are constantly updated because I can't find a manual rebuild setting in the Admin's control panel. I think this will have to be one for Ben to deal with. I can't see there's much I can do as an admin.
