rapscallion
Hi all. The first frets on my Warwick are buzzing like mad. I've played with the trussrod a bit and have gone with the idea the truss rod is shot. Of course I will take it to be looked at professionally before doing any work to it, but I'm just brainstorming (sorry, mind-mapping ) at the moment. I've seen a few guides to removing fretboards on the net, and feel I have a grasp of how to do it, plus I feel confident in it working out okay, however, how difficult is the removal and replacing of the truss rod for a new one? Do I have to get a genuine Warwick one? My next idea was to make a fretless maple fingerboard. Could I buy a maple fingerboard blank and use the old one to get a 'trace' for the new one? This might be the ramblings of a noob DIY'er, but I'm not sure how much the cost of having a professional doing it would be. Thanks guys Will
Ou7shined
Why do you think your tr is shot?
rapscallion
Rich, I've tried turning anti-clockwise 1/4 of a turn and it moves pretty loosely, but doesn't seem to be doing anything for the fretbuzz on the first frets. Ou7shined
Hmm does sound dodge, right enough. Try a couple more turns and give the neck a wee helpful nudge in the right direction as you do it.
rapscallion
Having a look from the side, it curves away from the body at the first fret. I think I'm going the right way. Do I want to nudge it toward the body, if you get what I mean?
LukeFRC
woahhhhh slow down a bit..... put your finger on the first and 12th frets, whats the gap under the strings in the middle of that. If there is none then loosen the truss rod. But there should be some... and my guess is it is totally fine. so buzzing only on the first few frets.... your nut, the adjustable one.... is it too low? rapscallion
I've tried adjusting the nut, and it doesnt solve the problem, and I've checked the bow in the neck like that and its pretty deep. I should probably just go to a tech
Ou7shined
Wow you've raise the nut and loosened the tr and you still can't get it. Can you give us a pic looking down the neck showing the action and relief?
LukeFRC
so nut up as far as it will go and it still rattles?
