casapete
Seen the AWB maybe a dozen times over the last 30 odd years, and whatever the line up they've always been great. Alan Gorrie such an underated player/singer. My favourites are Work to do, If I ever lose this heaven and Keepin it to myself. Also the great album they made with Ben E.King (Benny and us). First time I saw Steve Ferrone play was with AWB, one of the best drummers I've ever seen. Hamish Stuart still working with his band too - saw him in Leeds at The Duchess a few years ago and they did a few AWB tunes as well as some of his solo stuff. Great band featuring the superb Ian Thomas on drums, and Steve Pearce on bass.
Guest McBass
I supported them 2 years ago in Aberdeen, great band! Their original drummer, Robbie McIntosh (R.I.P.) is one of the funkiest drummers Scotland and the UK has ever produced.
gerryc
Was in a band named The Above Average Weight Band and we were always being asked to play Pick up the pieces.
spongebob
I love AWB. They re-issued all of their albums a couple of years ago, and I've got them all! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiDn_YpZwIA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr4pJT0sYRY You could paste these all day long - just a great band. I'd love to see them, I had no idea they were in Brighton recently. Other day I was listening to 'Warmer Communications' - great laid back feel. They are so tight, it's unreal! But once he got on the kit he changed into THE best drummer I've ever heard.
