One of my bands is on as http://m.soundcloud.com/kapitantheband
the Kounellis tracks were recorded in an art gallery and we had problems with recording gear and wandering drumkits (shiniest of shiny floors)!

Hi everyone. I finally got myself back into a band last summer - after several frustrating years in Gumtree wilderness, trying (and mostly failing) to find some folk to be in an originals band with who are broadly on the same wavelength, amicable, reasonably competent, not deluded etc. You wouldn't think its that hard, eh? Anyhow - after countless false starts and time-wasting" auditions" (don't get me started!), persistence eventually paid off and I joined an established alt rock band with an album out and a realistic balance between world domination and finding time to get the shopping done. We've just finished mixing the next EP due out next month. Here's a couple of tracks on the band's soundcloud (the newer ones have me on!). Its been rather a long while since I've been in a proper studio - and forgotten how much fun it is. One tracks maybe a bit busy/toppy, but the other guys liked it so I let it slide. :-) Any and all feedback appreciated!

hello fellow soundclouders

Just a question about the stats on Soundcloud. How accurate are they? I have no reason to believe them to be inaccurate except my latest upload has been listened to (apparently) by loads of people all over the world!

I have put about 12 tracks up and they haven't generated many hits. The last track i put up has generated more than all the others combined! The only link to it is from here...

Any ideas?

Hey folks,

New jam session at home using finger style, muting, slapping and a finger nail as a plectrum - all in 2 minutes :)

Its a David Sanborn tune that i have murdered without any reference to the original.

A midi file quickly imported into Cubase and you have an immediate groove to jam to. Great way to spend the winter hours...

Heres a stab at a Lee Ritenour tune just for the hell of it

After having had work completely dominate my life for the last couple of years, and destroy my musical output, E made a decision a couple of weeks ago to gwt back into playing more. Ihave had my first bit of musical inspiration in ages...the trouble is, I've got a half idea and I'm really not sure whether it's really worth progressing, or whether it's just that my standards have dropped so much!

I'm really hoping for some thoughts and feedback (purely a guitarpro export at this point, and please excuse my hideous attempts at adding drum tracks, but it sounds really lacking without!)

Thanks!

Took a listen, there's some interesting musical ideas going on, but your right about the drums. I think the problem is that your thinking very linearly about them. You have two basic options IMHO, if the software your using it supports it you could use some pre-recorded drum loops, or if you're going to program them yourself, either import some MIDI loops or go on some drumming websites and find some info on basic drum patterns and rudiments. To program drums, you have to think like a drummer (not that I am one). Good luck, but don't give up on it tho

I think there should be one rule on this thread.. which is, don't post a link to your 'Soundcloud' unless you've listened to and posted a message about the previous posters offering (?) .. just an idea? this may have been done somewhere else before?? :D

Anyway, I got lucky.. because Ian's sound/genre is right up my street (ambient/chill-out).. and I'm now a 'follower' - not in any weird kind of way you understand..

If I was being hyper critical, I would like to hear more 'Bass playing'.. but that's it.. all good!

So.. here's mine.. https://soundcloud.com/simon-edward

Hi Simon,

Thanks !

I love your retro-harmonics song, nice man !

I only have fretted basses, and they don't really suit what I'm doing, but I'm getting an electric upright bass in a few weeks, so hopefully there'll be some 'real' bass soon. I'd like a fretless too sometime in the near future.

just found this thread so listening to a range of soundcloud pages tonight - rather liking this (blind juggler especially).

may as well do the soundcloud plug while I'm here: https://soundcloud.com/gazthefink a few songs from a few of the bands I've played in over the last ten years or so.

Thanks Gaz, that means a lot right now.

Edit - listening to Von Bartha now. Loving it. Right up my street.

Possibly the greatest thread on Basschat? People making music instead of talking about making music :) Nice idea Mornats.

Here is a ditty from a really good friend. He writes loads of tunes then calls me to go and play bass on his ideas.

Well, as with the composition challenge and mix challenge, it's the people putting the stuff up there that make it great :)
