BottomE Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Having recently read a thread on Synth bass i got interested and started to mess with a midi keyboard and Cubase. Can definitely do some interesting things with the Synth that you can't do with a "proper" bass. https://soundcloud.com/bottome/life-for-the-living Quote

Thunderpaws Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Good evening. Here is the link to our stuff we have just put up on Soundcloud. We recorded, wrote (the vast majority, 2 covers), recorded, mixed and mastered it all ourselves. We have had great fun doing it and are now writing for the next batch. www.soundcloud.com/sulasula-1 For my bass recording, most of the songs were D.I. From my Genz Streamliner 600. Three were right to the desk from my bass. A G&L L2000. There are three guitars and drums. We messed up the drums, especially the snare, but it is the first time we have done it so they aren't too shabby. Most importantly we have had a blast doing it and it has got us out of the house on a Tuesday night, to Paul's Halls in Cumbernauld where we rehearse. Now looking to do a gig in July before baby number 2 arrives. Anyway, please listen and enjoy our tunes if you are into our style. Cherry bye Quote

Man I honestly wish you had a stronger voice in this great sounding record (this is only one tiny personal view others might think otherwise). I think it is your singer's romantic personality which comes out into the songs and that is great that he can express himself as he is and I don't think he should try and force him self sound tougher/stronger that would be faking and such would sound unnatural). A bit heavier than I usually like but it all ties in sweetly. Singers voice is not an issue for me, I would say it is a strength. He has great range. How did you record your bass? I am slightly jealous of the tone you have managed to put down there. Mine is s few threads up, and the bass on yours comes through with real authority. We mixed and mastered ours as well but sometimes my bass seems to get a bit lost in the mix. Your playing is a real stand out too. Well done. Quote
BottomE Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Hello Basschatting Soundclouders. Keep up the good work - love listening to your tunes :-) Here is a little ditty that i've been working on which features my sketchy guitar playing for the first time. Apologies to proper guitarists. Disco music makes me smile and there were some great tracks back in the day. i found a nice vocal track on a sample CD which i thought would be ideal to write a disco groove underneath. Unfortunatley Cubase keeps crashing so i've done a quick export in case the project becomes unworkable. Last couple of songs have my new Ricky on them, the year before my Squier VM J, and before that various sampled basses played on keyboards. Quote
