What you have done in theory [and you are not alone by any means]
Is trying to Sync someone else's [published?] Music to your own new project/content etc.
[that's the way Soundcloud digital ID will see it anyway]
You would have to get 'A Master Use' license from the record company or Music owner[s]

On another note Monetization through Youtube is becoming quite a good source of revenue,
now that the various performing rights organisations have struck up deals and are collecting from Youtube.
So yes its getting tougher to do what you want,
although Soundcloud/Youtubes digital ID system is still pretty flawed at the moment.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll stick to uploading original stuff or things way out of copyright.

My latest dance-ish effort - all done in Ableton with various plugins but all sounds (aside from drums) created by and on the bass

Hope you dig it

Here is my soundcould page: http://soundcloud.com/antonismbass

I have uploaded 7 tracks which are part of an EP (sort of) called "late August thoughts"

They have all been composed on a bass and the majority of the sounds come from bass.

Hope you like it...

Missed this thread somehow - I'll play! http://soundcloud.co...riginal/s-Bnq8I

The arrangement could do with tightening up a bit I suppose, but hey. Feedback gratefully received! :D

The RetroSonic podcasts.

http://soundcloud.com/retrosonic-podcast

I haven't got the editing/mastering quite right yet. Log fires, crisps, beer, red wine, swearing, shuffling bits of paper, stories too litigious or not for our wives ears didn't help. I'm learning on the job and it will get tighter as we do more and I know what all the buttons are for.

Some good tunes and chat though. Including Big Red X's band.

Uploaded so far the pilot show, The first real one and an interview with rock photographer Paul Slattery.

Here's a few songs: http://soundcloud.com/surfing-champs-of-mexico

Fun trivia - I work for Google as a day job, and the song "African Jam" is one of the tunes that you will hear of you call the Google AdWords support line, you'll hear our song! (there was an internal competition)

Recorded in Dublin's Windmill Lane studio. Used my trusty Fender Jazz (US, 2006, S1 switch removed, badass II bridge installed, Fender Custom Shop 60s overwound pickups added).

Ambient glitchy stuff, more chilling kinda music, I am aiming to release a track a month and to have people guest on it *hint hint*

so if anyone fancies jamming on a track in any instrument then lets do it =D

Hi,
Soundcloud receptacle for my more stupid stuff.
A mixed bag of rubbish recorded over the past 30-ish years.
Including such wonderful technology as four track cassette recorders, Wem Copicats, Specdrums (ZX Spectrum plus box to make drum noises) and a Shergold 6 & 12 string double neck.

There is a more sensible site under construction as well.

Where have i been ? i've only just discovered Soundcloud in the last week or so, this is just what i've been looking for to use to upload the rough and sometimes random recordings i do at rehearsals (and they are rough, nothing polished on here from me). It seems like a great way for the rest of the guys to listen back to what we did last and go from there. Trouble is i've already nearly filled my free minutes, how do you guys generally manage, do you pay for upgrades or do you delete stuff when it starts to fill up ?

An excellent soundtrack to your next rodeo or paperback western.

Some great noises on here. I look forward to working my way through them all.

Here's my solo page, all guitars, bass, vocals and (programmed) drums are me.

Mixing isn't my strong suit so not perfect.

Just found a load of Dance / Electronica I did with a friend back in 1999 / 2000
It was all done on a 300Mhz desktop running Acid Pro 2 using a Creative Live PCI Card with analog outboard mixer, keyboards and sampler.

John is interesting - the kind of riff you might hear in a folk club with the occasional added b5 to justify the alt-rock tag ;)

Heard the others as well. Take my comments with a pinch of salt because this isn't my genre and the chances are it's meant to be this way (remember the BBC engineer who apologised to "Mr Hendrix" for not being able to get rid of the distortion and feedback?). FWIW I'd start by bringing the drums up as far as you can, then fade up the other channels until you can hear both them AND the drums. As you've got a lot of bass stuff going on (distorted an' all) its going to be tricky to make that appear as the "lead" instrument without splatting everything else, but try to resist turning the wick up on the bass EQ on the bass tracks. Try the 800Hz - 2kHz band instead at +3dB on the bass track. You might get more definition in the bass dept without splatting the tracks the contain more treble content. Vocals can stick out more if you boost the 2.5kHz - 4kHz band, and scoop out the same band in other tracks like rhythm guitar.

Anyway thanks for the entertainment (John especially) and I hope you enjoy more playing & mixing ...

My account here, I'm really trying to develop my songwriting but in order to record I'm having to learn how to use software (garage band), re-learn the guitar (re-started 4 months ago after 25 yrs) and have owned a bass for about 3 weeks. Best not to mention the singing

Feedback welcome as so far my wife is the only person who has heard me playing.

Checkout Girl Brilliant Groove! Like the observational subject matter as well. tbh I think the production lacks a fair bit but the song was entertaining enough for me to forgive that.

Burning Ghosts I guess this should sound more sinister than it does, but hey, I've still got that Checkout Girl groove stuck in my mind and I'm not sure I'm paying as much attention to this as I should. ;)

If you've been away from guitar for 25 yrs and only had a bass for 3 weeks you're doing all right, mate. Keep at it!. BTW Have you read a book by Paul White called Creative Sound Recording? If not, check it out.

Thanks for the feeback, I'm glad you liked COG. The vocals is a problem as I never sing unless in the bath or drunk at a party. I think the solution there may be to get someone else to sing em. Thanks for the book tip also I need every tip I can get at the moment as I'm finding recording slow and frustrating. Every day and in every way I will get better and better!
