Mornats
I'm growing quite fond of Soundcloud and thought I'd get a thread going where basschatters can pop up their Soundcloud pages. If it proves popular maybe it could be put up as a sticky. My page is at: http://www.soundcloud.com/mornats It would be good to follow some fellow BCers and get a little Soundcloud community going! xgsjx
Posted before, but here's my electro soundcloud... http://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/sets/frequency-response/ I haven't got anything bass related on there yet, but I do plan to! Skol303
Great idea! I hope this isn't treading on any toes, but I've taken the liberty of setting up a 'Basschat' group on SoundCloud, so those of us here who use the site can share music amongst ourselves more easily. The page for joining the group and using the dropbox is here: http://soundcloud.com/groups/basschat It's an open group, anybody can join it and I don't hold any control or moderation over it. If any of the Mods here would rather I remove this group and set up one of their own that's obviously no problem at all - just let me know and I'll remove it. Alternatively I'd be happy to add any of the BC team as official moderators of the group, giving them full control over it. I haven't added an image or the BC logo to the group as yet - as I felt this might be overstepping the mark - but if the folks here are happy for me to do so then that's very easily done. For the time being, feel free to use this as a place for Basschat users to share their SoundCloud stuff PS: my own SoundCloud page is here: http://soundcloud.com/skollob Edited September 29, 2011 by Skol303

Skol303
Hi folks, I've just had approval from Steve (Crazykiwi) regarding the Basschat group on SoundCloud - so feel free to use this for sharing your music with other Basschatters! To access the group click below: http://soundcloud.com/groups/basschat To add your music to the group, click on the link marked 'share to group' at the top of whichever tracks you want to share. If you need any help, drop me a PM. Can I request that we add a sticky about this at the top of the Recording forum, so it's easy for people to find? PS: there might be scope to also embed SoundCloud tracks within forum posts - in a similar way to YouTube videos - I'll keep you posted on this... Cheers, Paul (Skol303)
Mornats
Nice one Skol, hopefully this will be a cool way to grab some feedback and chat about how our tracks have been put together. Thanks for setting up the group! I'm pretty sure we can already embed soundcloud tracks on here. Let's see if this works... EDIT: Hmm, no. I thought we could go into HTML editing mode and copy and paste the code that soundcloud gives you but we can't. I use IPboard on my site and I'm pretty sure there's an admin option to allow HTML code but of course there's a risk it could be abused. Up to the site admins to decide but it won't be the end of the world if we can't embed tracks. Edited September 30, 2011 by Mornats

I thought it'd be an easier way to keep track of any new music produced by people here. And thanks to Steve and co for giving it the go-ahead. It would be great if we could also embed SoundCloud tracks on forum posts, but I'm not technically-minded enough to know how! I did try using the SoundCloud code myself as a test, but it didn't work. I'll ask around some of the technical folk at work here, but if anyone else has any advice on this then please let us know... In the meantime, spread the word! Kiwi
Just want to say thanks to Skol for setting this up. Decent audio hosting sites aren't as easy to find as they once were and its something Facebook seems to have missed.
Mornats
I've only used Soundcloud for a few months now but I think it's pretty good and has ample opportunity for us to get into each other's sounds. With there being a free version too there's no excuse to share what you've been working on! Feel free to comment on tracks too, it's always a good buzz to get some comments. (Oh dear, I sound like a sales rep for them!)

It's free, it's easy to use and it doesn't come plastered in adverts and all the usual BS. I personally think it's the best audio sharing thingy-ma-bob on the interweb. bobbass4k
http://soundcloud.com/bobbass4k It's mostly for bouncing ideas off people, the noisefest with the weird title is part of a planned EP, every sound (except for the sample obviously) is produced by a bass, a guitar, and pedals, no production except level adjustments. ShergoldSnickers
http://soundcloud.com/fear-of-bicycles I didn't do the classifications. Any resemblance to jazz is purely illusionary. Or possibly disillusionary.
Mornats
There's certainly a whole bunch of vastly different genres on there, much more than I expected from basschatters. Perhaps I assumed we'd all play rock/funk/blues type of stuff. The variety is amazing though, there's some great stuff on there. I actually struggle with labelling my stuff as a particular genre. My mate at work (who got me into recording) labels it as "spy-music" which probably isn't a bad definition!

Skol303
Peeps, The SoundCloud website appears to be down at the moment. Perhaps it's buckled under the weight of our new Basschat group?? I'm sure it'll be up and running again soon... I'll keep an eye on it.
I've never even considered it to be honest but I use EZdrummer and a host of virtual instruments on my tracks (except the bass of course which is real...). The record function does seem to be in your face but I always consider soundcloud to me a showcase thing rather than a production thing. I guess you could use it to record your band live in which case I can see the use of that (i.e. fans go home, log into soundcloud and listen to the gig they've just been too - THAT would be awesome).
