silentbob
I have a problem with my Crate BT100 combo. Basically, whenever i plug in and turn on, everything is fine for about a minute, then i get this interferance like crackling sound coming through the speaker. I have plugged my headphones in and everything seems to be fine then, so would i be right in thinking it's a speaker problem? The combo is rated at a 100w, but i've never taken it past halfway. Any ideas before i lug the thing off to a repairer?

silentbob
Tried it with about five different leads, makes no difference.
discreet
Dodgy connection between amp and driver?
silentbob
Decided it ain't the speaker as it's stopped doing it for now. Must be some sort of dodgy connection. Having never taken an amp to pieces before, if it was a bad connection, would it be obvious to the untrained eye, or should i just take it to somebody who knows what they're doing? P.S. I accidently posted this in the wrong section, could a mod please move it to somewhere more relavant.
discreet
Probably best to have someone look at it.
funky8884
Could be a Transistor, visually inspect all your Transistors on your PCB and look for leaking or Bulging.
Monckyman
Sounds very much like a dry solder joint that`s failing once your amp reaches operating temperature. That it doesn`t crackle in your heaphones suggests it`s on the ampifier output side. Get it to the nearest Fixit boffin, it won`t be an expensive or long job.
