Lozz196 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Just spent a very enjoyable playing along to The Clash. Paul Simenons basslines are such fun to play. Quote
Billy Apple Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Coolio. Big up Simmo, and big up yerself Quote
Highfox Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 They are great aren't they Never know how much Kudos goes to Jonesy for writing them but they sure have a lot of feel to them The London Calling album is just a masterpiece all round. God knows how much I have heard and played it ove the past 32 years but it never gets boring and there is always a track on there that will suit my mood. Viva le Clash! (it must be those white P-bass's doing it to you Lozz Grats on your purchase, sure is a beaut. Quote
Noah Deere Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I've done the same thing may times, Ghetto Defendant is one of my favourites, simple and sounds really good too. Quote
Rayman Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 The only player I know who's even cooler in the flesh than he is on his records. I've been a fan for many years, and he's responsible for getting me into dub/reggae too. Quote

Ross Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 The clash were the first actual band I got into, and Paul Simonon (along with Entwhistle) the reason I picked up bass. Never looked back, very underated bass player. Quote
cocco Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I love the simple stuff, bank robber and clampdown are great fun to jam along with. Quote
Green Alsatian Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 When I was learning, I used to play along to the whole of their first album - I still love the muddy tone on it. My favourite basslines of Paul's off the top of my head are probably Stay Free, Lost in the Supermarket, Guns of Brixton, Red Angel Dragnet and Ghetto Defendant. Quote
