Solaris
Hi, I play a MIM Fender Precision (stock) currently through a Trace Elliot Commando but truth be told even as a 1x15 at 100w it's incredibly loud. (currently living in the garage and the low notes are vibrating appliances and cupboards out there even below half volume) It's not particularly ideal and as a result it's getting used less and less which is a shame because it really is quite a nice amp. Is it worth me looking for a smaller practice amp I can move around? It would be nice to feel I can play through an amp without locking myself into the garage to be considerate to housemates! Most of the stuff I listen to tends to be of the classic P-Bass into Ampeg type of sound and my amp can be pushed to a passable albeit deeper version of this sound: would something like the Ashdown Five Fifteen (8in 15w) or the Fender Rumble 15w satisfy me or am I best with another small amp? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! alexclaber
Have you tried turning it right down? Alex
gilmour
Roalnd CUbe, 30W It's a little more expensive than other practice amps but is great, and it has an amp modelling section (including 'stadium 8x10) Great practice amp.

barneythedog
Turn it down. You say it's very loud at half volume - if you mean it's too loud with the volume knob halfway round that is not unusual - a heck of a lot of amps give most of their output over the first part of the volume control travel, and are pretty much at max by half way. If it's just a volume issue then I don't see the need to go spending cash unnecessarily. If on the other hand if it's physically too BIG then maybe you are right to look at something else. I have to say, I can jam along no problem with someone playing tenor sax.
allighatt0r
Have you tried turning up the gain knob and turning down the master volume? I don't know about your amp but this certainly helps with character and tone with my amp. Just a suggestion
The Funk
You could get one of the small Line 6 combos. They have an emulation of the Ampeg B-15N. You could plug headphones in too.
Merton
I have the same amp and have to be considerate in my flat. Stick the gain on 3 and turn the volume down! It won't sound as full - as Alex has already explained this is your ears not the amp - but that's a sacrifice you make when playing quietly. Adrenochrome
Our guitarist is also a very good bassplayer and has a Trace 15" combo. He uses his at home and cuts the bass frequencies so he can have more volume without shaking the neighbours' houses. I'd also agree with previous ideas to keep the input gain high.
