Hi to everyone, please I need an help asap if is possible!

I have bought 3 days ago a Yamaha rbx200f from a member on this forum and he does not told me that maybe the Truss-road head on the bass was broken.

The bass was cheap but I did't knew anything from the ex-owner about this problem, that's for me is not correct at all,
Anyway now is too late but I want the same to be sure that the bass is broken and in case try to find another neck which i guess will be an hard thing to do....

This is the bass I have bought and in the red circle there is the part that i think is broken.

If somebody has the same bass guitar could be so gentle to make a picture of the part I am interested so i will be able to know 100% if my bass is broken or not?

Thank you so much for the help!
:)

I am not expert but to all basses i have and i had in the past was possbile turn the truss road with one of this:
http://www.carpimoto.it/images/products/zo.../kr_3602_Z2.jpg

the Yamaha which i haveright now has nothing give me the possibility to use one of the instrument above.

I have seen other Yamaha RBX models and everyone has the same truss road head the normal one where you can put the instrument in the picture.

Tonight i will post a photo so maybe is better because i don't know how to explain...

Thanks

Hi again here you can see some pictures (macro) about my bass guitar....maybe with pictures is more easy to understand the problem.

http://www.schizzechea.it/MM/Macro01.jpg
http://www.schizzechea.it/MM/Macro02.jpg
http://www.schizzechea.it/MM/Macro03.jpg
http://www.schizzechea.it/MM/Macro04.jpg

As you can see in the pictures the head of the truss road does not exist in my opinion so that's mean for me that the bass is broken!
Is what i guess wrong?

Any help would be appreciated!

PS Sorry if the pics are too heavy but is a little part of the bass so I left the pictures in a good high resolution

Thanks

That looks like the truss rod. The end of which should have a nut with a metric hex head socket in it- in which your allen key would fit.

It looks to me like the nut has fallen off and is missing. This does not mean the bass is 'broken' but merely that there is a part missing.

Although even with the hi res pics I still cant be 100% sure.

Yes guys thanks for the all answers,"the hex nut" is the right word sorry but i am italian and is hard sometime use the correct words :):
Anyway i am happy that from the pictures is more clear and that is also possible to see that something is missing...I am not an expert but i don't think is possible repair it...

If somebody has any idea about it would be great...thank you so much to be so patient!

Deep thought is correct. Contact Yamaha UK and let them know you have lost a nut for it. I'm pretty confident that they'll just send you one. They are pretty standard.

You will need to undo teh neck to put it in and then you will find out if you have a problem. The fact that teh bass is still capable of being played suggests to me that it will be OK...!

Please do not apologise for your english, its much better than my Italian... ! :)

I think what you can see in the picture there is the remainder of the truss rod nut. It looks as though a part of it has sheared off, possibly due to being over-tightened. This is not as bad as it seems. If you get the neck off the bass, you stand a chance of getting the broken bit off the truss rod. Once this is off, fitting a replacement is a doddle.
