Spooky. It's like the ghostly rattling of a snare drum when someone's forgotten to turn off the snare (or whatever the technical term is).
I've often thought that would make a good ghost story.

Ditto. The dog also resonates on the same frequency, and gets very f***ed off with the washing machine.
