thedirty7 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hello guys. Simon here.... From Market Harborough. Only been playing double bass for about three years. Got given an old double bass by a mate who said it was getting in the way. It was falling to bits and the action was about an inch high so i glued it together, painted it up, put some weedwackers and a duo pickup on it and asked another bass player mate to get me started. Jammed around for a year or so which led to the formation of a band, "The carp family", Difficult to pigeon hole us but we've been described as Warped Bluegrass or Punk skiffle. Whatever, Drunk people seem to like us and we've done about thirty gigs along with a little busking. Check us out on Youtube or Facebook. Bass wise I've just picked up a lovely old plywood Czech from the early fifties which will be getting a set of Silver slaps this week. So you could say i'm hooked....Wish i'd picked it up years ago.. Cheers for now Simon Quote
Len_derby Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Welcome Simon. I guess that now the autumn is drawing in you'll be getting out the 'Evil Coat'. Quote
