jjgvrs Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I have a J bass Im trying to put a value on. The serial # is E9xxxx, and says made in usa. This indicates that it is an 89 model but on the bottom of the neck is stamped "hector montes a/s jb oct 1991" Also Im told there should be 6 numbers, not 5 after the E prefix on the s#. Anybody have any info on this? Quote

waynepunkdude Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Cool, I'm sure someone smarter than me will be along soon. Quote
jjgvrs Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 LOL wayne, Im sure you're plenty smart enough. I called Fender directly and the person I spoke to thought it was odd that Hector Montes name was on it. .. and that maybe one of the s#'s was rubbed off, although that doesnt appear to be the case. Maybe it's a custom job???? Quote
waynepunkdude Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 "Hector Montes was a neck sander in the factory and eventually came over to the Custom Shop as well. " Quote
