phatkat
I've had my ten year old ray for a few months now and love it, the actives were working fine so I have never felt the need to look at the battery until an hour ago, and I had a problem getting the battery out, it needed some persuasion with a plumbers wrench before it came out. The negative terminal is a bit corroded and green on the battery, ive fitted a new battery and its all working fine, should i replace the battery holder on the guitar and if so is it an easy job? You've no need to be going into the control pot section and unsoldering anything from there, it's just the actual snap on connector you are replacing. Be sure to get a decent battery connector as a cheapie that will flex/break/not grip is a nightmare.
stingrayPete1977
Spray a bit of switch cleaner 'servisol' on it and clip the battery in and out a few times, should be fine.
stingrayPete1977
I'm guessing it's more than ten years old if it has the old clip on connector?
thepurpleblob
I would definitely replace it. IIRC it's soldered into the pre-amp board. Just undo all the screws on the control plate and you're in.
stingrayPete1977
Just re read the op, if it's the flip over clip one then it's just two flat springy plates, you can easily clean them up if you unscrew the pre amp out to get access maybe even get some fine sandpaper on them, I see no reason to replace it?
