casapete
Just experienced my first ever problem with a Musicman instrument. Was using my 2003 MM Sub on a gig last night, and it cut out completely. Reinserted the lead and it was fine for rest of the show. Took it to my tech to have a look at today, and he says its a solder issue on the circuit board of the preamp. Apparently the boards are machine soldered (wave method or something?) and this does n't allow much solder on the joints to accumulate. The circuit board flexes slightly when inserting the jack lead, and eventually causes the solder to crack. Simple job of applying more solder to the joint to sort out - he did the others whilst he was at it too to prevent same thing on them. I've had MM basses for years and never had this happen, so hopefully its an isolated incident - just thought I'd share in case it happens with yours. Cheers, Pete.
