Crazy drum and bass with live double bass! NEW TUNE ADDED...

Hey guys!

Another tune for your ears to hopefully enjoy...

Let me know what you think. The bass was of course my cardboard (or similar material) double bass with a Bass Max fitted, along with a Neumann Mic.

NEW TUNE: http://dl.dropbox.co...20Em-One%29.m4a

Thanks!

Now this I like.

Upright bass + DnB = happy me every time :)

My only comment would be to lose the vocal - that's not meant to be a harsh criticism of the vocalist - but it doesn't quite fit the track in my opinion, and was the only element that seemed out of place. But that's just my tuppenceworth.

That aside, I really enjoyed it and look forward to hearing any future mixes. Great job!

Ah cheers man! glad you like it, there is definitely more in the pipeline. Great to hear a bit of feedback...thanks.

The vocal is an experiment...we have an alternate mix with no vocal, just wanted to see if this worked or not. Haven't decided yet!

Great stuff. Love the dive-bombing bass in the break in the middle.
I like the vocals, although my pet hate is singers breathing too loudly. The start of the first verse sounds good, but once your singer starts panting at the end of each line it sounds too choppy, and this detracts from the track. If you can get him to take a big breath for the 2nd half of the verse it will improve it considerably.
I also think it could benefit from a 3rd (and maybe a 4th?) verse as it sounds too short. I know it's 3 mins and that is not a short track, but It felt more like 1 min. I just got into it and then it was all over.

Looking forward to hearing more :)

Good stuff - kind of in your face - and even though I'm not a big fan of this rappy stuff - I think this sounds cool and the lyrics are good - definitely keep this up, nice vibes... also I can hear the drums are live in places - but what/how did you do the programmed stuff? Good end result whatever it is. I agree with SteveO's comments as it would be nice to hear this tune develop a bit more, some harmonic stuff would be nice, building up to some kind of chord sequence or melody - going from sparse to lush sounds is always a winner song writing-wise - anyway really good to hear some more experimental stuff - that works - in the Recordings forum... more please

Brilliant bit of programmed beats, especially the breaks in the last 40 or so seconds! The vocals are ok, but could be better (sounds a bit like Lo Fidelity Allstars with them).

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. The beats were programmed simply by sampling some borrowed (from Tom Waits) and some recorded drum sounds and sequencing them one by one in the protools 'timeline'. The double bass was my awful cheap bass mic'd and Di'd. I think we managed to make it sound half decent!

As for vocals, we'll keep playing around.

Cheers!
