Gilby Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 hiya all, I'm Gilby and I'm a frustrated guitarist of limited ability, only recently got back into playing after a long break. Looking to move to the darkside and get onto four strings. I live on a narrowboat so no big amp rigs, currently play a bit on an acoustic apx500 or a Farida tele like through a vox batt amp. Suprisingly good sound but then again I'm living in a floating corridor so there's not a lot of space to fill. Tastes are varied, from Siouxsie and the banshees to Biffy Clyro, rush, floyd, zep, dreadzone, ozric tentacles, Kate bush. Yep, pretty varied. Anyway, glad to have found the site. Be posting in the wanted section in a bit. Need a bass now ! (short scale). Quote
gary mac Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Welcome. enjoy the site. Hope you find the bass that you want. Quote

seashell Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 A narrow boat in Shropshire, how brilliant! I love the canals at this time of year with all the autumn colours. Welcome and hope you get your bass soon. Quote
Gilby Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks for the welcomes, was expecting the nautical shouts. Yep, it's a nice way to live but I can assure you all it can be hard work, especially with the last few hard winters we have had. None the less, is incredibly rewarding if you can do without a few luxuries. Quote
steve-soar Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Lived on the cut for a few years at Golden Nook. £6 per week moorings (1995) at the farm, I bet things are different now. Welcome. Quote

Blademan_98 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I lived on a narrowboat in the early eighties in Tewksbury only had an acoustic guitar in those days. Good times (what I remember, it was a long time ago!) As for a short scale bass, I bought a Violin bass. Great for Beatles........ probably fit on a boat quite well Anyway, welcome and enjoy the forum. Quote

You're right, it doesn't lend itself well up north. (not a bassist yet, hope to be soon, can strum around an accoustic a bit, just fancy peeing the match anglers off!). Quote
