deanbean502
My Kubicki is in for a pro setup and my tech has just phoned me today to say he's having to replace the nut, which is fair enough I though it was in need of replacing anyway to achieve a better action and string spacing. I asked him what he was going to replace it with and he said a white bone nut. I insisted it needed to be black because i want it to blend in well with the ebony fingerboard and white would just stick out like a sore d**k! So he said he would source a graphite nut instead, but what is the difference between bone and graphite. Apart from the obvious!
Ou7shined
Bone is nice and easy for us techs to source and carve to a perfectly fit. That's probably why he wanted to go with it over a bought in one.
henry norton
Bone is cheaper than graphite too. Corian is a good bone substitute, it's cheap and you can get it in any colour you like.
Mr. Foxen
Graphite is slippery. Good for if you have a detuner. Don't those basses have a switchy nut or something?
henry norton
Graphite is slippery. Good for if you have a detuner. Don't those basses have a switchy nut or something?
Yeah they're headless too (if it's a Factor Bass Dean's talking about), so graphite would only really be needed for the colour.
