Herbie The Rad Dorklift Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I've noticed the past few gigs that my D string is noticeable quieter than the others, and my low B is pretty loud. What could be causing this? I have my EQ relatively flat, with a slight boost on the treble on my bass. My bass is a Sandberg MM2 (dual humbucker, both pickups selected) and the amp is a Markbass Mini CMD121p. Quote
yorick Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 No real idea of the cause. A suggestion, though. If you still have an old set of strings, try them on the bass again. If the results are the same, it's the bass. If not, it's probably a duff set of strings. Quote
Vibrating G String Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 My old Tokai Fender copy was like that. Many different sets of strings and the D was always quieter. Not a dead spot but a dead string. Never figured it out. Quote
JTUK Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Quieter acoustically or amped up, or both..? Quote
RhysP Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Are you sure it's that the D string is quieter, and not that the others are louder? Quote
Herbie The Rad Dorklift Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Guess I'll change the strings... Quote
Monckyman Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Have you had the bass set up by a luthier? If not it may be worth the £40 to make sure your nut isn`t choking the D and get it looked over. Quote
Kelso Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I agree with monckyman - get a luthier to give it the once over. It'll give you proper piece of mind. Hope you get it sorted mate . . . Quote
