Mike Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I've had two, loved them. Both 1984s. Ahead of their time, with neck through, active electronics and ebony boards. Sting used to like them. Fantastic precision sound with the front pickup soloed. Great basses! Quote
HADGE Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 Cheers Mike thanks for your help nice one mate. Quote
chrismuzz Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Very heavy, and the way it's constructed makes the neck seem ridiculously long. Will take you all of 20 minutes to get used to it and you'll be glad you did! They are actually very nice to play and a wide range of sounds. Those huge single coils also mean that you can get a very nasty aggressive attack if you need it too. Quote
geoffbyrne Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 (edited) A fretless Musician bass is the only instrument that I have GAS for.... G. Edited October 15, 2011 by geoffbyrne Quote
RhysP Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Never actually owned one but always wanted one - lovely basses. Quote

Mike Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 For the record mine were not too heavy! You should post pics. Quote
cocco Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I've always fancied one too. Not a fan of the white finish though. Quote
mikeswals Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I had a 79, loved it. The sound was very hi-fi, very Spector like, really brilliant, really high output too. I'm still kicking myself for selling it. Quote
bassatnight Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Sting stopped playing his purely down to weight but what does he know! They are lovley classics. Bet its lighter than my TB2000! Quote
skhatru Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Had one many years ago. Loved it. Always thought it was pretty heavy, but you got used to it. With mine there was a big differential when flicking the actives on. I remember playing a local club with it, flicking the switch to put the actives on, and popped (siezed) one of my 15" speakers. Traded it in for my first Jaydee Supernatural. Really good bass though. Dougie Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I had one, stupidly heavy and bland sounding.I could barely give it away at the time (about 15 years ago) IIRC i sold it for about £130. Quote
geoffbyrne Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 ..............I'll buy one for £130!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! G. Quote
bigsmokebass Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Seen thm but never played one, nice all the same and a niiiiice vintage look Quote
malcolm.mcintyre Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I had one from new, but the neck developed a length-wise twist which caused buzzing, and no-one could sort it out. Traded it for a new pre-Ernie Stringray and wasn't sorry. Quote
