spongebob
I'm a big fan of the Mahavishnu Orchestra - I think John Mclaughlin is a true great. His latest album (To The One) is superb, BTW! Anyway, both of the MO's bassists, Rick Laird and Ralphe Armstrong are pretty ace in my book. I did some digging recently on Mr. Armstrong, and found a great interview here - http://www.forbassplayersonly.com/Interviews/Armstrong.html The Jaco story is great....I never knew he was after the job as well! Nice to see Ralphe still going strong. There's loads of stuff on Youtube, but here's his red P-bass he mentions in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOFzVYh-v_A Between Ralphe and Rick.....just both amazing players! Doddy
Ralphe Armstrong is great....although my favourite player with Mahavishnu was Rick Laird.

Vibrating G String
Ralphe is my Geddy or Victor! Cool article, interesting to see how far from first Jaco was on fretless.
Stacker
What about Dill Katz, the jazzer? I'm sure he had a non-factory fretless Jazz before Jaco.
Delberthot
I thought I was going to be reading a story about a guy who beat up Michael Jackson but its the other Jaco and a different type of beating
