Folks - all references to hurting cats have been removed after multiple reports have been submitted to the mods. Seems there are lots of animal lovers on Basschat... so lets please keep the animal cruelty out of it.

On a serious note though, ...........................

I have used old strings to thread brake hoses through the swingarm on my mountain bike. It is supposed to go inside the arm at one end and come out at the other but the hose is quite stiff and never straight so it is pretty much impossible to stop it getting caught up rather than popping out the hole like it should. Clip the end off a D string, thread through swingarm with ease, push string into end of hose and then pull/push whole thing through so that the hose follows the string out of the hole at the other end.

I give mine to a local guitar teacher who passes them on to the kids at the music school who are learning bass, and probably skint.

I'd also heard somewhere that Herbie Flowers has a set of 35 year old strings on a jazz bass, that he still uses, so maybe I'll send the next set to him.

There's also a channel switch, there is radio, there are plenty of things that aren't Tv to put in the background. Calm down mate, I just made a wee joke that I make to my step-daughter nearly every day. She seems fine with it,
What was I trying to say? Please enlighten me?

I don't like the suggestion that firstly you think that I don't know how to turn off a television and that also you think I'm like some sort of little kid.

Sorry if that's the way it came out, It is a source of constant irking that people moan endlessly about what is on TV, when there is a simple option of not watching it. I was a little taken aback at your planning what time to get up to coincide with the TV admittedly.
And the reference to my kids shouldn't upset you, one is 20 and the other's 18. Still my kids though.... :)

If you just spelt it right in the first place then I wouldn't have to tell you (see, I can be condescending too!)[/quote]
It was spelt right, it was a punctuation error. See we can all play that game :)

Ok, everyone, this is a thread about old bass strings. Grow up. (ironic coming from a teenager, but this back and forth is pettier than anything in school.)

I made myself a bracelet from the E and G together, and the A and D strings, looked pretty good, lasted a while but they unravelled and I binned them before trying to fix them, lasted long enough for some interest though - might make another :)

Ive also heard of someone who used them to hold up a birdfeeder and make a perch in a birdcage, for any bird lovers among us!

Well actually it was the wrong use of the word for the context. But if you had to say that every time someone made a spelling error but the word they spelt just happened to also exist in the dictionary then there wouldn't be any spelling errors.

Too tired to apologise for name-calling over a misunderstanding though I see.

I didn't actually call you any name whatsoever. I said you were making a condescending comment, in the same way that a smug little prick would. So I apologise if offence was caused :)
