JohnFitzgerald
I've done this a bit a**e for elbow as we say locally, posting stuff before intro. So I guess I better do it now before I go any further. I'm John, Cumbernauld, Scotland. Playing bass now for (quick mental arithmetic, 46ish, less 13 = 33). Yes, playing bass for 33 years now. Been gigging since I was 16. Will confess to having been a Jaco / Mark King fan all my days. Currently playing in a couple of bands, one does Rock covers, one does functions. I prefer the functions, because it suits my style better, but my mates play in the rock band so I do that for the craic. Currently have the bass herd thinned all the way down to a solitary Squier Jazz 5 string active. I actually sold my Fender Jazz 5 string because I didn't actually like it as much. Just about to get my hands on a Status Smart bass which I saw at the weekend. Amp is a Trace Elliot AH250 and a Peavey 410tx. Previous incumbents. Amps first, most recent first. Last one, I was still at school. (I forgot a couple, edited to add those.) Peavey TNT130 Ashdown MAG 300 plus 1x15 and 4x10 Ashdown MAG 250 Combo Ashdown Commando (blehhhhh) Trace Elliot AH250 and 1048 1518 (I lie awake at night asking why oh why I let it go) Trace Ellliot GP11 pre amp and MM AP360 power amp ! (I couldn't afford an AH250 at the time) Acoustic 260 plus 2 x 15 cabinet. Jacoooooo !!! Ohm 100 watt head plus 2 x 15 cabinet. Session 1x12" 100 watt bass combo Carlsbro Stingray bass. Peavey Century plus HH 4x12 Custom Sound Trucker 45 Combo. Basses - I'll make mistakes here, but I'll have a go. Status smart bass, some time this week Squier Jazz 5 string active Fender Jazz bass active 5 string. Brice 6 string ( A Rondo music special from USA) Steinberger doubleneck - I had tow of these for some reaosn.) Status Groove 5 string. Status S2 headless fretless - SIMS LEDs.... Status Series 3000 headed, walnut body. 1967 Jazz Bass - Daphne Blue ? That sort of shade anyway. Washburn MB6 Hohner B Bass V Hohner Jack Custom Wal Pro Bass. Yamaha BB1000 Westone Thunder 1A (This died a slow horrible death.) Jaydee Mark King Squier Precision. Squier Jazz Ibanez RB924 Kay through neck Alembic copy. That's all I can remember. THe high points are all there. Some of them a bit forgettable. Some of them WTF was I thinking of getting shot of them.... I Thanks for all the help so far. I really appreciate it. Cheers JF Edited October 20, 2011 by JohnFitzgerald

JohnFitzgerald
Ah, the Westone. It was a thunder 1A. Just like the one in the adverts with Henry 'king thumb' Thomas throwing shapes. Mine was blonde ash coloured. Active electronics and a single 'P' type pickup. Then I decided that I wanted a Jazz pickup so chiselled out the body to fit one in. Badly. Then decided I wanted it to be a darker colour so bought some stain. The Westone didn't like this. The wood was as hard as nails and sealed so well that the dark stain just sort of fell off. Then I decided I wanted it to be fretless. Hey things were going pretty damn well at this point, I had to keep going ! So, I removed the frets and that was it finished. Badly fitted J pickup. Finish falling off. Nae frets. Finished !! I left it in a mate's house and never went back for it. Thankfully, when I spoke to him a few years later, he informed me that he had chucked it in the skip since we last spoke. I like to think that he cut it up into little bits to put it out of its misery first. I thanked him graciously for that and we never ever spoke about it after that point. What's it called ? Cumbersnecky !! Actually, just outside Cumbernauld. But, that's close enough.

BassBus
Well it's nice and sunny in the Scottish Borders right now. Having used so many Status basses you should get involved at Statii.com if you haven't already. Quite a list of gear you've had.
JohnFitzgerald
I have pics of all the old Statii somewhere. If I can dig them out of the old hard drive, I might just do that.

JohnFitzgerald
I've just remembered some wot I forgotted. Before the RB924 Squier Jazz Squier Precision. These would both be 1983. Yeah, I got rid of early Squiers too... Kay through neck bass thing. I was heavily into Alembics at the time and this was as close as it got.
