So did fender use chrome or nickel on P basses 57-65?

As the title says, just curious because I can't find an answer on google. Might build a P bass and want it to age naturally (over many years) exactly the same as the vintage basses from 57-65 pre cbs. If they used both what did they use for what?

Hmm, it's a good question. I've always assumed nickel plating for all hardware on pre CBS Fenders and into the early 70s, but having thumbed through 'The Fender Bass' book I can't see any mention of this or when they introduced chrome ...

Nickel for tuners - except the 'posts' which were chrome. Chrome for the bridge plate. Which other bits do you want to know about?

Everything really, I'm planning a 62 with a 57 maple neck build but I want to know which hardware to use. Any websites I can look at?
